Buttercream Icing Recipe

Step #1 Gather Tools and Preparation
Gather your icing making tools; Microwave oven 1 and 1/4 Cup Shortening 1 and 1/4 Cup Butter 5 Tablespoons Milk Mixing Bowl And a microwave safe bowl 10 Cups Powdered Sugar 1 Color and 1 Flavor Powder Packets In this example we are making buttercream flavored bright white icing. Over 100 color powders and 28 flavors are available on line. Let’s get started! Pour melted butter in mixing bowl.   Add milk and shortening. Add 3-4 cups powdered sugar. Mix Slowly for one minute.
Step #2 Add Sugar and Mix
Slowly add powdered sugar. Once about half of the sugar is dissolved, remove mixing bowl and all all but about 3-4 cups. Continue mixing and add remaining sugar until it reaches the consistency you desire.
Step #3 Add Flavor Powder
Add one packet of flavor powder. 28 flavors to choose from to accent your cake! The flavor powder is powdered sugar based so it becomes part of your icing without watering it down or getting that bad taste like gel paste. 
Step #4 Add Color
Add one packet of bright white color powder to make a bright wedding white icing. No more yellow.
